How do you make a mission catch fire?

A fire needs at least two things: a catalyst to start it and oxygen to keep it alive. It must move, expand, and grow to survive. And it dies when contained. This is true of literal fire and metaphorical fire for the mission.

The catalyst that starts a fire under a mission is often the passion that is strongly present in nonprofits. The oxygen that keeps it going is the volunteers that willingly feed the fire. Yet, many nonprofits are strapped for quality volunteers. Especially expert and skilled volunteers.
