Nonprofits are messy. You may have heard me say that before.
But nonprofits are so so so critical. The sector is like a compass pointing the way to a truly civil society.
You fight to protect the rights of immigrants or LGBTQ people. Find shelter for the homeless. Stand up to racism. Research cures to life-threatening diseases. Remind us of the beauty of the world through art and music. Provide access to education for at-risk populations. Fight against human trafficking. Tend to people’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Help animals.
You make a difference in people’s lives. Again and again and again. That makes you, in my eyes, a superhero!
And if you’re a leader at a nonprofit, you know that it takes a village. It’s impossible to do it all on your own… even if you ARE kind of on your own. And so many nonprofit leaders I hear from do often feel alone, overwhelmed, and awfully frustrated in their jobs.
But I truly believe that if you stepped up and took a leadership position at a nonprofit, you’re a superhero. And like any superhero, you need support. Your Justice League or Avengers… A group of fellow superheroes and supporters in your corner.
And that’s why I’m SO excited today to announce that I’ve opened the doors of the Nonprofit Leadership Lab to new members!
I created the Lab to help nonprofit leaders like you – both on the board and the staff – with the ongoing education, support, and community you need to thrive.
Just a quick heads up that if you think you might join the Lab, this 1-day registration period will close around 9am ET on Tuesday, October 4th. So think about it, but don’t wait too long and miss the deadline.
WHAT IS THE NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP LAB?
The Lab is for leaders – board and staff – of small and medium sized nonprofits.
… An executive director who will do whatever it takes for those you serve (sometimes even at the expense of your free time, relationships, and health).
… A board leader who cares deeply about your cause and want to help your org become more sustainable for the long term.
… A startup founder who’s gotten your nonprofit off to a good start and you‘re looking for a clear path to growth and bigger impact.
… A senior staffer who plays a key role in fundraising or operations and you‘re eager to help your org reach the next level.
Some members are regulars and participate in “all the things”; others use the Lab in a more targeted, strategic way. When they need it, it’s there.
For either kind of leader, we help you. We celebrate you. And we care deeply.
WHAT DO I GET AS A MEMBER?
Well, a lot actually!
First of all, Lab members receive outstanding professional development and masterclass training from our team, including from me and more than 40 additional experts in fields like fundraising, board development, marketing, team building, leadership, finance, and more.
The trainings are designed to help you:
- Raise more money
- Build a 5-star board
- Attract more supporters
- Become a workplace of choice
- Grow as a leader
- Live a more balanced life
DO I GET TO CONNECT WITH OTHER NONPROFIT LEADERS AS WELL?
Yes! Our Lab “Village” – made up of thousands of nonprofit leaders just like you – is the most helpful and supportive community of nonprofit leaders you‘ll find anywhere!
Leading a nonprofit can feel lonely and frustrating. Our amazing community (with options on and off Facebook) is there to support you, give advice, celebrate your wins, and provide a place to vent when you‘re having “one of those weeks”.
Our community team works hard to connect you with others in your sector and provides many opportunities for real-time connections.
We find that many of our members initially join for the amazing content, but they stay for the long term because of the remarkable community.
COOL! WHAT ELSE DO MEMBERS GET?
First of all, nonprofit leaders are BUSY! So it doesn’t help to have to reinvent the wheel.
So we provide you with all sorts of resources designed to save valuable time. Downloadable checklists, templates, and book Summaries.
Live Q&A Sessions
Have any burning nonprofit or leadership questions you want to ask me directly? There are opportunities to do exactly that every single month.
And, on top of that, we have a database you can search through that has my answers to every single question I’ve been asked during a Q&A in the Lab since 2017!
These are quick to review and easy to implement, designed to get you, well… a quick win. Something helpful you can put into place immediately and with little effort.
Several times a year, we run “boot camps” where Lab members have the opportunity to go deeper and accomplish more in a shorter time period than they might have thought possible. Boot camps are expert-guided intensives lasting approximately eight weeks and include pep talks, weekly homework, watch parties, live feedback sessions, and private small group activities.
We have fundraising, grant writing, and board bootcamps available, all at no extra charge to members. The fundraising bootcamp can even earn you CFRE credit.
Think of this like a tiny sip of professional development to start your day off right. Usually, it’s a very short video designed to just take a few minutes to consume.
Special “Members-Only” Discounts
We are constantly looking to partner with product and service providers to offer valuable discounts to our members.
THAT’S A LOT. WHAT DOES ALL THIS COST?
The Lab was intentionally designed to be affordable for smaller nonprofits. I know how expensive it can be to hire consultants or pay for professional development training.
That’s why the Lab costs just $47 per month. Less than a daily cup of coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts (not even Starbucks). You can save additional money by signing up for an annual membership for $470, saving two months of fees.
Honestly, if you get just one valuable thing from the Lab all year it more than pays for itself. Most of our members get a lot more than that!
CAN I CANCEL IF I DECIDE IT’S NOT FOR ME?
Absolutely! You can cancel any time you want for any reason with no further payments.
SOUNDS AMAZING! WHERE CAN I JOIN?
